Being Your Bright Self

Love, Exceptionalness, and Being You

Dec 29, 2005

Saying For Today: I can give you the courage and sense of safety for you to explore being yourself in a new way, a way that will bring love, healing, and new insights into your life.

A man kept complaining to his Spiritual Director that he was worn out by person’s expectations and focus on him as a leader. “Is it possible,” asked the Director, “that the reason you’re worn out by such is you are trying to be a leader rather than letting yourself be you?”

“We need less posturing and more genuine charisma. Charisma was originally a religious term, meaning “of the spirit,” or “inspired.” It’s about letting God’s light shine through us. It’s about a sparkle in people that money can’t buy. It’s an invisible energy with visible effects. To let go, to just love, is not to fade into the wallpaper. Quite the contrary, it’s when we truly become bright. We’re letting our own light shine.”
—Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

“It is exceptionalness in a person that attracts some and detracts others, it seems. We all have an exceptional Essence, and the closer we are to God, the more open to Life, the more intimate with our daily Experience, the more in the Moment, the more truly Hopeful—not wishful—, and the less attached to material things ... the more that Essence shines through: we feel it in ourselves, we see it in other persons who shine with that Essence. Other persons sense it: some run to it, some run from it, some deny it, some are befuddled by it... Ultimately, is it not true that one must be true to himself or herself, or one is neither true to God nor to any other, either? The world, family, friends, companions, ... need each other's exceptionalness to be whole, don't you think? … That is the Christ I can relate to, a Christ who says, I understand, I've been there, It's safe to be fully open to me and know nothing you do or say can ever detract from my love of you as you.”

A Love Letter From God

My child, you were born with a longing for unconditional love, and I am that love. You forget that and get entangled in lesser loves. You have old feelings, like ghosts who keep haunting your heart, which tell you that you do not deserve such love. But your challenge is not to become worthy of such love, your challenge is to wake up to how worthy you already are for such love. I can guide you to find that love everywhere. I can guide you to the persons who can share that love with you. The only thing you need to do is let me, and I will respond, for I want you to enjoy such a life of being loved as yourself. You do not have to act like someone you are not. I would never ask you to do that. I want a relationship with you, not you acting like you think I want you to be. You can be yourself. You can act whole, joyful, content, and grateful. You can feel me in the whole world of Nature, if you simply let me manifest myself to you. I can give you the courage and sense of safety for you to explore being yourself in a new way, a way that will bring love, healing, and new insights into your life. Do not say this is impossible. Do not act like it is impossible. When you do such things, you cut yourself off from my power. When you please others by denying your own Essence, that is not my kind of love. Simply let me show you the way, and I will help you discover a beauty and grace about yourself that has too long been hidden within your rush to control and please. You have taken care of others, now, it is time for you to learn about taking care of yourself better. In so doing, you will be a healthier person for those you love. I am the source of all good and all positive energy flows eternally from my Being. I love you. I am here for you, always.

God
