16 Be sensitive to each other's needs - don't think yourselves better than others, but make humble people your friends [i.e., associate with the lowly]. Don't be conceited. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but try to do what everyone regards as good. 18 If possible, and to the extent that it depends on you, live in peace with all people.

*Romans 12.16-18 (Christian Bible: CJB)

She said, "I think I've done well learning respect for other beings, even those I don't seem to like." "Very well," replied the Sage. "It's time, then, to go beyond that." "What would that be?" "Reverence," replied the Sage.

We say something fundamental to spiritual life when we bow to someone - human or otherwise - and bring our hands together before the heart. We are acknowledging we recognize and honor the sacred within the other. We know the other's essence is our essence - we are one spirit. We are aware the other, as are we, is an appearance of one Presence.

All the stars in the skies shine with one brightness - so do we. We each manifest a single Light. Realizing this, we receive inspiration to act with equality and justice for all, not esteeming anyone of more or less worth than another, and daily being the peace this world so much needs.

What is the link between the opening scripture and the posting for today? In what ways do you show reverence for humans? Other life forms? How have you received recently from another the acknowledgment of the sacredness you are?
