Ecstatic has been understood etymologically as "a standing outside oneself." In ecstasy, one, again based on etymology, "departs from oneself." The term was used for persons who went mad. While strong emotion has been linked with the word, here, as elsewhere, I use it of that "standing outside oneself." It is not an emotional term for me, but it does not exclude emotion. And the one who stands outside of is the I Am, the 'You.' The non-ego, the one I - the 'You' -, is the ecstatic one. 'You' is both the Totally Other, and that we are. We are the being-danced, and we dance. Everything is dancing. Stillness moves.
You do not begin and end at our skin
We do not begin and end at our skin
Spirit horizonless no here no there
You existence no inside no outside no sides
Sky you are you ever expand
We fish swimming depths and surfaces... you
You the ocean shore and we sodden with you
You surge over us... drenching us in yourself
You skies brids we are sailing through you
John the Beloved leaned upon your chest
When we so lean, like him, we lean upon ourselves
You the Wind moves not moving from but moving with itself
Rivers many flow into one sea - the same wetness remains
A myriad faces we are with one presence looking out of our eyes
In our reaching for you you are reaching for yourself
In our reaching for you we are reaching for ourselves
You divide yourself showing you are a seamless whole
Thus, we go in many directions to meet you, we having gone nowhere
Yet, in us you leave yourself that through us, you return to yourself
And, in you we leave ourselves that through you, we return to ourselves
You are the homeless one having never left home
You are the poor one filled with all goods
You are the barren one with abundant fruit upon your limbs
You are the austere one adorned with all living things
You, we... this world teeming with sprightly matter - beginningless, endless ecstatic dance
