The presentations at this site cover a long time period. Each one represents part of an on-going Pilgrimage, and the writer's ideas, practices, and experience have changed over time. This change is the quality of any living Journey. Please read with this in mind, allowing the inner Teacher to speak to you as you need at this particular time in your own living Journey. Thanks!

I am struck by how sharing our weakness and difficulties is more nourishing to others than sharing our qualities and successes.

Allowing ourselves to feel the weakness of being a human among other humans is essential to living an authentic life. The spiritual life, indeed, is an authentic life. And we cannot know how to be strong, if we do not know how to be weak.

Weakness is humbling. And we cannot be exalted apart from being humbled.

To embrace weakness allows us to be more deeply in union with others. No one escapes weakness, for no one escapes being human. Therefore, the spiritually-hearted person allows strength and weakness to be integrated in the embrace of the one Heart.

In compassion for the limitations of one's own creaturely existence, a person learns compassion for the limitations of that existence of others. Dropping the pretense of a constant state of strength, undiluted by weakness, is an act of love for others and oneself.

One finds in this humbling that weakness manifests a Beauty, a Glory, a Holiness, as much so as does strength. In the one Heart, weakness and strength are not opposites, but like expressions of the Presence of Grace.

Finally, we each are neither strong nor weak. We have experiences called strong or weak. Yet, we are neither. We are this manifestation of Grace sharing these experiences. We cannot, however, to live authentically, simply refer to our Oneness and ignore that we are living in this common human journey of weakness and strength that must be fully accepted to live honorably and lovingly. Ironically, then, only the strong can embrace gladly weakness.
