Being A Spiritual Cook

Utilizing The Ingredients Of Life

Page 2

Our experience of polarities in meditation offers us the insight, gradually, that all polarities are arising from God, the One. All opposites rely on a Singleness to exist, or they could not exist, or, otherwise, they would be independent existences apart from Existence—that is impossible. We come to see that the “satan” cannot exist apart from the all and, thus, is from and of “God.” We come to see that the sinfulness of sin is not that sin is apart from God, rather, sin is the expression of that in God in a way that is harmful.

Thus, to say that all arises from God is not to say all is godly or that we can just immerse ourselves in selfishness, doing whatever we, esteeming ourselves separate beings, want to do. Rather, knowing that all is of and from God leads us to respect all more. For example, when I see another person dualistically, I can more easily be hurtful to her. However, when I see she and Brian are one, with and in Brian, both as one of and from God, I am more likely to be helpful to her. Therefore, what is harmful is sinful, and the more sinful for being a misappropriation of the Good and good— indeed, more sinful from a Nondual perspective than a Dualistic one.

I have some very encouraging news. Ready? Everything that you need to grow spiritually will always, at any time, be in your life. Therefore, I have a challenge. Ready? Look. Do not just pray, “God, show me.” No, being from and of God, you participate with God. You must look. One way of learning spontaneously to see and integrate ingredients as a spiritual Cook is to keep with your daily Practice. You will find yourself seeing more clearly how that even what is harmful has within it potential to be transformed to helpfulness for others and yourself. And you will see that this transformation entails the transformation of the whole environment, for you and others are one. Your transformation is essential to the transformation of all. Each incremental step toward your wholeness is an act of Love for everyone and for Christ in God.

Spiritual Exercise

1. Do your daily meditation.
2. Look into your life. What ingredients are there for you to grow spiritually? Choose one ingredient you have not been using and see how you might utilize it as a spiritual Cook?
